I had just gained acceptance and received access to various network hosts on our core network and was busy going through the paces of setting up a new client, this great honor to perform my first set up unsupervised. I went ahead and logged onto our router located quite a distance away and proceeded with the setup.
I happily typed away went into privileged mode typed a command and was in the process of correcting it when...... oops the network shutdown, the phones started ringing off the hook at our customer help desk, our senior engineers were now frantically calling our remote office to find out what had a happened and trying their best to restore services, finding no one to help them they dash out to get a car and drive over to our remote site.
I quickly send a text informing them that I was busily modifying a command when it went down, in my head I continue playing a song by moi "it could not have been me........", but it was me, you see while in privileged mode, I had just switched to interface configuration and had inadvertently clicked on the return key while back spacing the word "show" after only deleting two characters, blame it on the keyboard configuration on the laptop and my fingers.
Yep you got me I shutdown ["sh"] the interface.
Lesson: Don't laugh at other peoples goofs Karma[Kamau] has a way of getting back at you.
